The Directorate of Enforcement (ED) is a domestic law enforcement agency and economic intelligence agency, whose duty is to see that the economic laws of the land are followed.
ED also fights against financial and economical crimes in India, against the government of India and its states. ED is one of the arms of the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Govt of India.
Enforcement Directorate’s main job is to investigate and prosecute cases related to money laundering, foreign exchange violations, Corruption (bribery) and economic offences. It also takes measures to reduce or trace black money.
ED’s objective is to see that the all the laws of land, be it import export, taxation, customs & other duties be it the Indian currency or foreign exchange, are followed in letter and spirit.
So we will try to understand the panic among the politicians on the word of ‘ED’ in our future editorials.
