
SRI DARBAR SAHIB, AMRITSAR, PUNJAB.
Operation Blue Star which was a military action by the Indian Army on the holiest of Gurdwaras of Sikh Nation, Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar, is completing 40 years tomorrow 1st June 2024.
The code name Blue Star symbolised military action against the Blue Nishan Sahib, which is the true Nishan Sahib of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Maharaj times, The flag of the Sikh Nation.
The date of 1st June 1984 was chosen badly, as it had maximum number of Sikh devotees from all over the world who had come on the ocassion of Shaheedi Divas of Guru Arjan Sahib ji Maharaj, also got trapped and lost their lives or lived with injuries.
The operation was carried with full artillery, tanks and machine guns from the Indian army side against 200-250 Sikhs led by Sant Jarnail Singh Bhinderawale, armed with basic weapons and hundreds of Sikh pilgrims.
All the Gurdwaras in Punjab were seized by the Indian Military.
